The swami premananda memorial charitable trust

The Swami Premananda Memorial Charitable Trust was established only after Swami Premanandaji Maharaj left the physical world. He resided at 9, Narayan Kutir, Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh till 5 Feb, 2004, while he was still in physical body. Immediately after Swamiji Maharaj enter the Mahasamadhi, the Sivananda Ashram management called the following devotees to remove swamijis belongings, used and unused, from the ashram:

• Shri H D Sharma ( Delhi )
• Shri Sharad Goel (Gurgaon)
• Shri Virender Pratap/Veerji (Jalandhar)
• Shri Ashok Kakkar ( Delhi )
• Shri Anil Sethi ( Delhi )

The above said devotees had no option but to form the Swami Premananda Memorial Charitable Trust, registered at Delhi vide registration number 8008/2004. In the registered deed the above named devotees were declared as trustees who constituted the trust board. Thereafter, the trust board members contacted the devotees of H.H Sri Swami Premanandji Maharaj to remain associated to the trust by paying Rs. 108/- as a token entry fee and City/Town wise units formation is in the pipeline.

The first project of the trust was to financially help Swami Premanand Junior High School , 14 beegha, Rishikesh, Uttaranchal which was being ru by swamiji maharaj as president of ‘Janakalyan Shiksha & Sewa Samiti', a registered society of U.P state. The school was on deficit due to the fact that about 200 poor children were being given education upto 8 th class by swamiji maharaj.

The trust board made an appeal for funds to help the school which was to the tune of Rs. 4 lac per year. The building also required additional space to accommodate swamijis holy belongings.

Most funds started coming from devotees in the year after March, 2004. Meanwhile, the following project shave been undertaken by the trust:

• Equipping the School adequately
         The first floor of the school building in Rishikesh has been completed
         The school deficit, which is o the tune of Rs. 40000/-, is being met with by the donations from the devotes of swamiji maharaj

• The holy belongings of swamiji maharaj have been placed in a memorial built with in the school premises. Daily prayers are conducted here. The memorial is open to devotees during school hours. However, it can only be open by request after school hours. The contact number of the school is 0135-2444016.

• The third project taken up by the trust was a permanent memorial in the name of swamiji maharaj. This has been accomplished in the form of a temple I Jalandhar, Punjab . The land for the same was purchased for a price of Rs. 12 Lacs and the foundation was laid on the 7 th of May, 2005, on the 85 th birth anniversary of swamiji maharaj. The total cost of the project was Rs. 25 Lacs which was met entirely out of donations from devotees. The devotees may contact Veerji whenever they visit Jalandhar at 0181-2251701. • The trust regularly celebrates the birth anniversary, Sri Gurupurnima and the Punya tithi of swamiji maharaj.

• At Faridpur, Bareilly , Dr. Gujral is holding free medical camp under the banner of Swami Premanand Charitable Trust.

Many more plans to enhance the holy learnings of swamiji maharaj are in the pipeline. The trust is also publishing a half yearly magazine ‘Divya Prem'.
